Yes, please call our rooms if you require clarification on your fasting time.

I am on blood thinning/blood pressure medication, do I need to stop these prior to surgery?

Yes, however this depends on what type of medication you are taking and should be discussed directly with A/Prof. Wilson and or your Anaesthetist prior to stopping any medication. If you are unsure please call our rooms directly.

I have been booked in for surgery, what happens next?

Once you have consented to surgery, we will guide you through a few easy steps to get you ready for your operation. Firstly, you will be given a confirmation letter confirming your chosen hospital, operation date, your Anaesthetist and Post op appointment. You will be handed a hospital admission booklet which will need to be completed and sent in to your chosen hospital at least one to two weeks prior to your surgery. Depending on your surgery, you may require an appointment with your Anaesthetist prior to your operation, and our reception staff will advise you of this. Pre-operative bloods will also need to be carried out, and this will be discussed with you.

What costs are involved for surgery?

You will pay no gap in relation to my services. If you have private health insurance we do not charge above the scheduled fee for operations. This means there are no “out of pocket” expenses for A/Prof. Wilson, and your invoice is submitted directly to your health fund. However, some patients may find that they do have to pay a hospital excess and there is usually a gap payable for your Anaesthetist services. Please contact these providers directly to discuss these payments.
